What is tango class submarine?

The Tango-class submarine is a family of diesel-electric submarines developed by the Soviet Union in the 1970s and 1980s. They were designed for coastal defense and patrol missions in shallow waters, and their primary role was to detect and engage enemy surface ships and submarines.

The Tango-class submarines have a length of 91 meters, a beam of 9.6 meters, and a draft of 7 meters. They have a displacement of approximately 3,000 tons when surfaced and 3,600 tons when submerged. The submarine can accommodate a crew of 60 to 80 personnel.

The submarines are armed with 533mm and 400mm torpedo tubes and can launch a variety of torpedoes and anti-ship missiles. They also have a 76mm deck gun and various machine guns for surface defense.

Tango-class submarines have been exported to several countries, including Algeria, Cuba, India, and Libya. Some of these submarines have been in service for over three decades and have undergone upgrades to improve their capabilities and extend their service life.
